Are You Afraid of Asking These Hair Extension Questions?

Are You Afraid of Asking These Hair Extension Questions?

Are You Afraid of Asking These Hair Extension Questions?

Hair extensions are the modern woman’s hair tool. However, there are some questions that many have never gathered enough courage to ask. Although they look glamorous from outside, there some weird incidences that only hair extension wearers know too well. If you’ve never installed hair extensions before, there could be some embarrassing questions you have been too afraid to ask. This is why we have brought together most of the behind-the-scenes stuff which you’ll need to know.

Isn’t it weird to have someone else’s hair on your head?

Well, Remy hair is made from real human hair. This is a fact that many of us have accepted without a second thought. So, no it is not as weird as you might think. It is just hair, who cares where it is from, especially if it enhances your looks? If anything, the hair is cleaned and processed before being sold, so what’s there to worry about?

Is it possible for extensions to fall out?

It is understandable to have such a fear. I can imagine a weft detaching and falling out in public, and what a nightmare this can be. I can assure you rarely does this happen, save for when it is wrongly installed. The possibility of this happening stands at 1%. To avoid such embarrassments, have your hair extension correctly installed and regularly check up to ensure everything is in place.

Can extensions damage my hair?

There have been several reviews speaking against hair extensions. If an extension is properly installed and cared for, there’s a 0% chance that your hair could get damaged. Installing hair extensions means you wish to protect your natural locks. This is why all attachment procedures have been tested and proven.

Are extensions addictive?

For many people, exposing their natural hair once they have gotten used to hair extensions can be a bit difficult. This just because they are not used to an ordinary look anymore. However, this does not mean they’re addictive or one can’t stop wearing them. It just that it may take some time before they get used to their natural strands again.

Will hair extensions thin my natural hair?

This is one of the most common myths that is not going away any time soon. What happens is that after taking off hair extensions, your natural hair might seem thin because you were used to voluminous hair. So no, your hair won’t thin because of wearing extensions, it will simply look that way as you had forgotten how your natural hair actually looks and feels.

Must I stop wearing hair extension?

If you are thinking of giving hair extensions a try, it doesn’t mean you’ll have to wear them forever. You are at absolute liberty to uninstall them and get back to your natural locks. It’s not such a big deal should you decide to take them off. The adjustment period might feel a little weird, but you’ll get used to your natural locks pretty quickly.

We hope that some of your burning questions have been answered and that installing hair extensions isn’t such a complex exercise anymore.

Mistakes to Avoid With Clip-in Extensions

Mistakes to Avoid With Clip-in Extensions

Forget about diamonds, clip-in extensions have replaced them and become the current girls’ best friend! There’s no limit as to what you can achieve with clip-ins. Regardless of the color, style or length, clip-ins make your desires come true. Not only are they simple, but also require very little effort.  This is probably why many relax  when it comes to taking care of clip-in. Read on to find out how you can play by the rules so that your extensions get to last long.

Sleeping with you clip-in extensions on

It is normal to feel overwhelmed at the end of the day, to the extent of not taking off your make up. The same could apply to clip-ins. Everyone has been there, but then the state of your hair the next morning can be quite a mess! Not taking off your clip-ins before bed can lead to serious matting and tangling which will eventually shorten its lifespan. Instead of just throwing yourself on bed after a long day, get yourself collected, clean off your make up, remove the clip ins and store them safely. You will definitely thank yourself in future for that!

Incorrect wash routine

Mistakes to Avoid With Clip-in Extensions

Washing hair extensions may seem really simple, but many don’t understand why they need to go through some steps especially when clip-ins are involved. Wash your clip-ins at least once a week if you wear them on a daily basis, otherwise after every 4-5 wears will be fine. Be sure to wash off the entire hair product to cleanse and restore it to its natural texture. After a thorough wash, apply some hair oil and store them safely ready for the next wear.

Give your clip-ins the same care you would give to your hair. Avoid harsh chemicals and remember your hair extensions need as much nutrients as your natural hair. Harsh chemicals deprive your clip-in extensions of their moisture, leaving them worn out and unsuitable for the long term use. Avoid products with alcohol and sulfates as these are the number one damager of natural hair.

Wrong products

You will be surprised how many disregard the kind of products they should be using on their hair extensions. In as much as the hair has come from a different source and is not anchored on your scalp, it still needs the same care your real hair would have received if not more! Identifying the correct products for your hair will see you wearing your extensions for even more than one year!

Be sure to have your clip-ins installed by an experienced hair specialist if you can’t do the installation by yourself.

Weave Terms Demystified!

Weave Terms Demystified!

Weave Terms Demystified!

Weaves are a great protective hairstyle as they give your hair a break from styling and heat damage, thus giving it a chance to grow. Sew in weaves help you to achieve any color, length and volume that you desire! If you have been considering trying out weaves, you must have been bombarded with all sorts of terms and maybe left in a confused state. Don’t let these terms do that to you, we are here to help you! Here’s a ort glossary that will come in handy especially if you are a first-timer.

The Glossary

Protective style- This is a style worn with the intention of restoring the health of your hair while promoting its growth.

Full weave-All your hair is braided up and covered under the weave. The only visible hair is your weave hair.

Partial weave– A portion of your hair is left out while the rest is braided up. This is a go to style for those that intend to achieve a natural look while attaining extra volume and protecting the rest of their hair.

Leave out-The section of your hair that’s not braided, but is left out to blend with the weave and achieve a natural look.

Cornrow-A tight braid that provides the base onto which the hair extension is attached. It also protects your hair.

Weft– A continuous track of hair that has been fabricated or sewn.

Machine weft-A continuous track of hair that has been sewn by use of a machine. They are the easiest kind of wefts to use as they make the installation process simpler. They are slightly thicker than hand-tied wefts.

Hand-tied wefts– These are a little thinner than machine wefts and allow the hair to lie flat on the head. They are almost undetectable and are pre-sealed to reduce shedding and maintain their thickness.

Track– The point of attachment of the weft.

Remy hair-Human hair that has its cuticles still intact. Such hair may have been processed to attaching a given color or texture, and therefore cannot be considered virgin.

Virgin hair– 100% pure and natural human hair. It has not undergone any processing hence posses its natural color and texture.

Single sourced– Used to refer to hair that has been collected from a single donor, and posses a natural gradation from root to end.

Double sourced– Refers to hair collected from several donors. Combination of this hair to form a weft results in a uniform length throughout.

Closure-A piece created to mimic a natural part or hairline. Generally, closures are used during the installation of full weaves. Check out our store for a wide range of closures to pick out from.

It is our hope that this glossary has equipped you in preparation for the protection of your hair. We hope that it will make you more confident and help you make an informed decision when settling for a weave! The 3 Types of Dandruff and How to Treat Them

The 3 Types of Dandruff and How to Treat Them

The 3 Types of Dandruff and How to Treat Them

If you have ever experienced dandruff, you can acknowledge that getting it to go away is not a walk in the park. You may have tried out a dozen of shampoos, creams, greases, and conditioners that gave you the hope of sorting you out. Just like most people suffering from dandruff, this product may not have been of much help to you. Perhaps these products have been tailor-made for a different kind of dandruff, which may not be the one you have. Since there are different types of dandruff, understanding the difference and their causes will play a key role in helping you finally get rid of them for good.

Dandruff Caused by Fungal Growth

Mainly caused by unbalanced scalp pH and oiliness, this type of dandruff may be regarded as a chronic condition. It can also be caused by an allergic reaction of your scalp to the kind of products that you use or poor cleansing habits. Try out natural remedies, switch conditioners, shampoos or the styling products that you use. Even though sulfates create a foam during shampooing, it is not necessarily for cleansing your scalp. You could be among the many who are allergic to such chemicals.

Caused by a Dry Scalp

When the skin on your scalp is literally parched and dry, it is bound to flake and fall off, resulting in dandruff. Such a kind of dandruff is common with people whose hair is curlier, drier and have a tight scalp. Hydration and moisturization should be the best friends of such people. Go slow on chemical treatments such as dyes and relaxers as they tend to strip your hair of its natural moisture. In addition hydrate from the inside by taking lots of water (8 glasses a day are recommended) and wait for your hair and skin to thank you!

Stay away from shampoos containing sulfates as this ingredient is among the number one reason for hair become dry and stiff. Massage your hair with a few drops of peppermint oil to activate blood circulation to the scalp. As a result, your scalp will receive oxygen and nutrients that will contribute to its hydration.

Dandruff Caused by Product Buildup

This is probably the most common type of dandruff. When someone with an otherwise healthy scalp and mane piles up styling products, for example layering serum on top of wrap lotion on top of hairspray on top of scalp oil and so on. Dandruff of this kind is more likely to be in form of tiny balls of dirt and less like flakes. Since these products attract and trap a lot of dust, such tiny balls are usually brownish in color. This kind of dandruff usually appears when the hair is in need of a wash and is sporadic in nature.

To get rid of dandruff caused by product build-up, regularly wash your hair and reduce the number of styling products you use on your hair to a maximum of 3.

Many queens tend to associate all types of dandruff to a dry scalp and end up piling hair oils in an attempt to compensate. Others believe that it is due to oiliness or product buildup and end up stripping their hair of its moisture by the use of astringent cleansers. Little do they realize that there are different types of dandruff and each needs a unique kind of treatment. That’s why you need to understand the kind of dandruff your hair has, so that you kind apply the correct remedy to it!

Trendy Hair Colors that are Office Appropriate

Trendy Hair Colors that are Office Appropriate

Trendy Hair Colors that are Office Appropriate

Everywhere I look there is a woman rocking a beautiful trendy hair colors (THAT I WANT!!!). You can simply scroll
down your time line on Instagram or Facebook and see tons of women with just about every color you
can think of from hot pink, purple, blue, red, or even neon green. O how I envy them! I think to myself
how I wish I could change my look and rock a fiery red or a really cute rose gold pink. I’m loving this
“express yourself through your hair color trend” but I can’t partake in it because my corporate job has
strict rules and regulations against “unnatural hair colors” in the workplace.

And plus it’s seen as
unprofessional. (Mama didn’t raise no fool). But it’s such a disappointment. I’m young and sometimes I
just want to do something wild and crazy with my hair, but I don’t want to get fired in the process. I got
bills to pay. And plus I like to eat! Lol No hair color is worth my quality of living. Luckily, I have figured
out a way to cheat the system and get the best of both worlds. So if you are in the same boat as me
keep reading because I’ll be giving you a some tips on how to get away with rocking trendy hair colors
that are office appropriate in the workplace.

Bold Tips
Dyed tips are a great way to push the norms of trendy hair colors at work. For instance if your hair is already
dark in color such as a jet black you could try dying your tips a deep royal blue or a really dark red or
purple. You should use a color that will blend well with your natural hair and not cause too much of a
distraction.

Ombré Styles
Ombré hair colors are the perfect compromise for trendy hair colors for the workplace. Don’t go wild
and crazy now lol. Stick to more natural colors and hues such as honey blondes, browns, and coppers.

Highlights and Lowlights
Highlights and lowlights are perfect for adding depth and dimension to your hair. It’s great for turning an
outdated style and color and making it trendier. Now a days highlights are considered to be acceptable
in an office setting. However, if you are concerned about being a little to risqué, you should consider
babylights which is a method used to make your highlights look more natural.
Stay away from bright and unnatural hair colors. However, if you are some shade of blonde or have
really light hair you can get away with highlighting with discreet colors such as silver, lavender, light
pink, or even red if you have strawberry blonde hair. Make sure to select a color that will blend quietly
and readily with your natural hair color.

Peak-A-Boo Hair
The peak-a-boo method is probably my favorite option, because I can choose any color I want and it not
can be seen unless I expose that layer of my hair. If you are little confused, the peak-a-boo coloring
method is simply a way of hiding your desired hair color by dying the bottom layer of your hair. You can
choose any bright or off the wall the color and it will never show unless you style your hair in a way to
show it off.
When your hair is down, the vibrant and bright color(s) underneath will disappear and are no longer
visible.

If all else fails you can always use hair extensions. No one can dictate how you wear your hair once you
are off the clock. Clip in hair extensions are a great way to play around with trendy hair colors. And the best part
about them is you can instantly change your look in a matter of seconds. You can always experiment
with wigs, which is another great options. Corporate woman by day and fun girl by night.
I hope these tips has helped to give you an idea of some of the ways you can play around with color in
an office setting. Please let me know if any of these has worked for you.

Wanna learn 4 different techniques for curling your beauty and luscious virgin hair extensions?

Don’t freak out! I’m sure a ton of you must think I’m crazy. Like, who has the time, space or money to have 4 different curling tools? Not to worry ladies we’re only using 1 curling iron to get almost any curl or wave you want. If you want to learn more….

Just, keep reading for more Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions!
It’s no secret, I love wearing my hair in almost any kind of curly or wavy style. I will wear just about any type if curl, from the Kim Kardashian beach waves all the way down to those bouncy Shirley Temple spiral curls. And what I love most is that I can achieve any look I want using the same curling iron or wand curler by just using different techniques.
Today I’m sharing with you my top 4 favorite curling methods. Which can be used on your natural hair or your hair extensions. For the most part, I only use a 1- inch curling iron to achieve my desired look and style.
This is where it all began for many of us. Mainly because the technique is so easy to master.
First thing first, all you really have to do is mimic wrapping a ribbon on the barrel of the curling iron.  Just make sure the hair is even and flat. As well as minimum space between each wrap of hair around the curling iron barrel.  This will ensure your curls come out neat and perfect.
Before we move on, let me give you these little tips.
  • Hold the hair on the iron for 10-15 seconds at a time. This will allow the curl to set in place.
  • Next, before allowing your curl to fall into place, first hold the hot curl in your hand (no it’s not going to burn you) about for 5-6 seconds to allow it to cool, which will make for better curls.

4 Unique Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions

2. Corkscrew Curl
This is by far my most favorite and adored curling styles in Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions. I am in love with this curl pattern. It is just so glam, chic and sophisticated.
All you have to do to get this look is take a small section of hair and tightly twist it around the barrel. Almost as if you were making a rope with your hair.  You want to use a twisting and wrapping motion all at the same time.

See # 3 and 4 Below

3. Small or Tightly Wound Curls
Let’s set the record straight for all of you non-believers and naysayers… Yes… yes you can use a one-inch barrel to create small and tight curls. Don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself! The trick is to work in very small portions and sections. By doing this you can recreate the classic curl or the corkscrew curl but they will be tighter and smaller curls. Which will give you a completely different look all together.

4 Unique Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions

4. Loose Wave
This is my second favorite option. I feel like Kim Kardashian or Beyoncé when I wear this curl or wavy. This look is just so very sexy and grown woman. But the best part about it is that it can be your “go to look” when you are running short on time. (If you’re anything like me. You spent way too much time scrolling on Instagram, knowing you should be getting dress and now you’re running late lol)
This technique is perfect for getting those big loose “beach waves”. Just take a thick (but not too thick) section and place it around the barrel. With this method you will need to do some slight rolling of the iron. Make sure to curl the front sections of your hair away from your face. So you get that “I have my very own personal invisible fan blowing on me at all times” look
I hope this helped and gave you some inspiration to try some new curling methods. What are some of your favorite techniques to curl your hair or hair extensions? Let us know in the comments below. We would love to hear from you.

Curly Extensions- 4 Secrets to Keep Curls

Curly Extensions- 4 Secrets to Keep Curls

Curly Hair Extensions

Big hair, Don’t care! When I say I love big hair, I LOVE BIG CURLY BEAUTIFUL Hair! The bigger the better. I am absolutely in love with big luscious curly hair. It just fits me. And the best part about it is when you invest in virgin hair, you get the best of both worlds. With most virgin human hair curly extensions you can wear the hair straight or curly. I prefer to wear it curly, at least most of the time.
Now, what they don’t tell you about rocking curly hair extensions, is that, they require a lot more maintenance and attention than their straight or body wave counterparts. When it comes to curly hair extensions there are a few main things you have to incorporate into your hair care routine to make sure your hair is looking its best.
Curly Extensions- 4 Secrets to Keep Curls , Curly Extensions,4 Secrets to Keep Curls, hair extensions, nadula, arjuni, bad weave

  • Wash and condition regularly
Wash and conditions your curly hair extensions on a regular basis. I would suggest using a quality brand named shampoo and conditioner.
  • Spray Bottles
A good Spray bottle will become your best friend. You may not want to wash your hair every day, but you must know that curly hair extensions thrive when they are properly moisturized. I do this by adding a small amount of coconut oil, and leave in conditioner to a spray bottle filled with water. I mist my hair in the mornings and watch my curls bounce right back like new.

Curly Extensions – 4 Secrets to Keep Curls

  • Detangle
It is best to detangle your curly hair extensions when they are wet. When brushing or combing the hair while it’s dry can cause a ton of breakage and shedding. The best tools to use are a wide tooth comb, a vent brush, a dimming brush, or your god given fingers.
  • Setting foams/ lotions
Nothing brings back curly hair extensions like a good setting foam. You can find them at almost any local Walmart, pharmacy or beauty supply store. I love using a setting foam after I’ve washed, conditioned, detangled and moisturized. The setting foam helps to lock in the moisture and set the curls into place.
The most important thing to remember when wearing curly hair extensions is to treat and care for them just how you would treat and care for your very own natural hair. If you treat them right, they will treat you right… If you treat them wrong……, Well you know the rest.

Hair Extensions Boom, Where did it all start?

Hair extensions might ѕееm lіkе a nеw invention but in reality hair additions have been around as fаr back аѕ thе Egyptian times when both men and women wore wіgѕ. Since thеn hair pieces have been in and out of fashion ever since. However, as of recently there has been a huge hair extensions boom.
In 1800 fake hair was frowned upon аnd wоmеn lеft their hair to be natural until the Romantic era was in full swing whеn wоmеn wore elaborate Apollo knots. Come the mid Victorian era and hair pieces were used a lot more extensively. Then strangely in the early 20th century Edwardian women wore false hair additions to create the pompadour hairstyle which looked like a woman was wearing a teapot on her head. How that became fashionable I don’t really know!

Around the 1920’s less hair was the big thing so hair pieces took a dive around that time and it wasn’t until the 1940s when long hair came back into fashion and women starting indulging again. Then in the 1960’s big hair was back with a vengeance. Coils were the in thing or the updo as it is better known to us, This was created by very extravagant human hair pieces. Wigs made from real or fake hair were commonly worn around this time too and carried on into the early 70’s. Come the 80’s and big hair was in but only natural hair. Famous singers wore wigs but that was about it.

Hair Extensions Boom

In the 1990’s hair pieces or wigs became a lot more affordable to everyone, not just the rich and famous. The famous spice girl Victoria Beckham has been credited for the latest fashion of human hair extensions. When she first got together with her now husband David Beckham it was a time when public interest in the couple was at a all time high and they were both photographed all the time and would be found on the cover or most newspapers and magazines. With this sort of publicity everything about the couple was scrutinized.
At that time pictures of Victoria were on the front of every paper or magazine with many different hair styles on view. Some days she had short hair, the next she had long and it was obviously these styles were created thanks to hair еxtеnѕіоnѕ. She еvеn ѕроkе аbоut them and explained they were created with natural human hair whісh саuѕеd slight controversy as to where the hair came from.

Since then the trend hаѕ bесоmе muсh more widespread with lots of different people using them for different reasons. Tееnаgеrѕ lооkіng for long hair have extensions as do older women trying tо rерlасе thіnnіng hair. And mаnу women use them just for special оссаѕіоnѕ.
Hair extensions can be made from many different materials including a whоlе rаngе of fake synthetics ones to gorgeous nаturаl European hair.

Permanent hair extensions саn соѕt a fеw hundrеd dollars for each application and they only last up tо around 4 months. There are lots of different methods оf аttасhіng thе hair some safer than others. With permanent hair extensions uѕuаllу a ѕmаll grоuр of hair strands are collected which the hair is attached tо. Thеrе аrе dіffеrеnt types of adhesive including wax, glue, or heat all of which аrе nоt thаt grеаt for your hair.

When it comes to removing the extensions chemicals аrе needed and these can often leave hair dаmаgеd. Anоthеr орtіоn is to have the hair weaved on. It is known as ‘wafting’ and іѕ a muсh ѕаfеr орtіоn as no chemicals are needed.
The clip-on hair extensions соmе in a vаrіеtу оf different colors and lengths are the best option for non permanent hair ріесеѕ.
