Wanna learn 4 different techniques for curling your beauty and luscious virgin hair extensions?

Don’t freak out! I’m sure a ton of you must think I’m crazy. Like, who has the time, space or money to have 4 different curling tools? Not to worry ladies we’re only using 1 curling iron to get almost any curl or wave you want. If you want to learn more….

Just, keep reading for more Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions!
It’s no secret, I love wearing my hair in almost any kind of curly or wavy style. I will wear just about any type if curl, from the Kim Kardashian beach waves all the way down to those bouncy Shirley Temple spiral curls. And what I love most is that I can achieve any look I want using the same curling iron or wand curler by just using different techniques.
Today I’m sharing with you my top 4 favorite curling methods. Which can be used on your natural hair or your hair extensions. For the most part, I only use a 1- inch curling iron to achieve my desired look and style.
This is where it all began for many of us. Mainly because the technique is so easy to master.
First thing first, all you really have to do is mimic wrapping a ribbon on the barrel of the curling iron.  Just make sure the hair is even and flat. As well as minimum space between each wrap of hair around the curling iron barrel.  This will ensure your curls come out neat and perfect.
Before we move on, let me give you these little tips.
  • Hold the hair on the iron for 10-15 seconds at a time. This will allow the curl to set in place.
  • Next, before allowing your curl to fall into place, first hold the hot curl in your hand (no it’s not going to burn you) about for 5-6 seconds to allow it to cool, which will make for better curls.

4 Unique Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions

2. Corkscrew Curl
This is by far my most favorite and adored curling styles in Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions. I am in love with this curl pattern. It is just so glam, chic and sophisticated.
All you have to do to get this look is take a small section of hair and tightly twist it around the barrel. Almost as if you were making a rope with your hair.  You want to use a twisting and wrapping motion all at the same time.

See # 3 and 4 Below

3. Small or Tightly Wound Curls
Let’s set the record straight for all of you non-believers and naysayers… Yes… yes you can use a one-inch barrel to create small and tight curls. Don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself! The trick is to work in very small portions and sections. By doing this you can recreate the classic curl or the corkscrew curl but they will be tighter and smaller curls. Which will give you a completely different look all together.

4. Loose Wave
This is my second favorite option. I feel like Kim Kardashian or Beyoncé when I wear this curl or wavy. This look is just so very sexy and grown woman. But the best part about it is that it can be your “go to look” when you are running short on time. (If you’re anything like me. You spent way too much time scrolling on Instagram, knowing you should be getting dress and now you’re running late lol)
This technique is perfect for getting those big loose “beach waves”. Just take a thick (but not too thick) section and place it around the barrel. With this method you will need to do some slight rolling of the iron. Make sure to curl the front sections of your hair away from your face. So you get that “I have my very own personal invisible fan blowing on me at all times” look
I hope this helped and gave you some inspiration to try some new curling methods. What are some of your favorite techniques to curl your hair or hair extensions? Let us know in the comments below. We would love to hear from you.

Curly Extensions- 4 Secrets to Keep Curls

Curly Extensions- 4 Secrets to Keep Curls

Curly Hair Extensions

Big hair, Don’t care! When I say I love big hair, I LOVE BIG CURLY BEAUTIFUL Hair! The bigger the better. I am absolutely in love with big luscious curly hair. It just fits me. And the best part about it is when you invest in virgin hair, you get the best of both worlds. With most virgin human hair curly extensions you can wear the hair straight or curly. I prefer to wear it curly, at least most of the time.
Now, what they don’t tell you about rocking curly hair extensions, is that, they require a lot more maintenance and attention than their straight or body wave counterparts. When it comes to curly hair extensions there are a few main things you have to incorporate into your hair care routine to make sure your hair is looking its best.

  • Wash and condition regularly
Wash and conditions your curly hair extensions on a regular basis. I would suggest using a quality brand named shampoo and conditioner.
  • Spray Bottles
A good Spray bottle will become your best friend. You may not want to wash your hair every day, but you must know that curly hair extensions thrive when they are properly moisturized. I do this by adding a small amount of coconut oil, and leave in conditioner to a spray bottle filled with water. I mist my hair in the mornings and watch my curls bounce right back like new.

Curly Extensions – 4 Secrets to Keep Curls

  • Detangle
It is best to detangle your curly hair extensions when they are wet. When brushing or combing the hair while it’s dry can cause a ton of breakage and shedding. The best tools to use are a wide tooth comb, a vent brush, a dimming brush, or your god given fingers.
  • Setting foams/ lotions
Nothing brings back curly hair extensions like a good setting foam. You can find them at almost any local Walmart, pharmacy or beauty supply store. I love using a setting foam after I’ve washed, conditioned, detangled and moisturized. The setting foam helps to lock in the moisture and set the curls into place.
The most important thing to remember when wearing curly hair extensions is to treat and care for them just how you would treat and care for your very own natural hair. If you treat them right, they will treat you right… If you treat them wrong……, Well you know the rest.

Hair Extensions Boom, Where did it all start?

Hair extensions might ѕееm lіkе a nеw invention but in reality hair additions have been around as fаr back аѕ thе Egyptian times when both men and women wore wіgѕ. Since thеn hair pieces have been in and out of fashion ever since.
In 1800 fake hair was frowned upon аnd wоmеn lеft their hair to be natural until the Romantic era was in full swing whеn wоmеn wore elaborate Apollo knots. Come the mid Victorian era and hair pieces were used a lot more extensively. Then strangely in the early 20th century Edwardian women wore false hair additions to create the pompadour hairstyle which looked like a woman was wearing a teapot on her head. How that became fashionable I don’t really know!

Around the 1920’s less hair was the big thing so hair pieces took a dive around that time and it wasn’t until the 1940s when long hair came back into fashion and women starting indulging again. Then in the 1960’s big hair was back with a vengeance. Coils were the in thing or the updo as it is better known to us, This was created by very extravagant human hair pieces. Wigs made from real or fake hair were commonly worn around this time too and carried on into the early 70’s. Come the 80’s and big hair was in but only natural hair. Famous singers wore wigs but that was about it.

Hair Extensions Boom

In the 1990’s hair pieces or wigs became a lot more affordable to everyone, not just the rich and famous. The famous spice girl Victoria Beckham has been credited for the latest fashion of human hair extensions. When she first got together with her now husband David Beckham it was a time when public interest in the couple was at a all time high and they were both photographed all the time and would be found on the cover or most newspapers and magazines. With this sort of publicity everything about the couple was scrutinized.
At that time pictures of Victoria were on the front of every paper or magazine with many different hair styles on view. Some days she had short hair, the next she had long and it was obviously these styles were created thanks to hair еxtеnѕіоnѕ. She еvеn ѕроkе аbоut them and explained they were created with natural human hair whісh саuѕеd slight controversy as to where the hair came from.

Since then the trend hаѕ bесоmе muсh more widespread with lots of different people using them for different reasons. Tееnаgеrѕ lооkіng for long hair have extensions as do older women trying tо rерlасе thіnnіng hair. And mаnу women use them just for special оссаѕіоnѕ.
Hair extensions can be made from many different materials including a whоlе rаngе of fake synthetics ones to gorgeous nаturаl European hair.

Permanent hair extensions саn соѕt a fеw hundrеd dollars for each application and they only last up tо around 4 months. There are lots of different methods оf аttасhіng thе hair some safer than others. With permanent hair extensions uѕuаllу a ѕmаll grоuр of hair strands are collected which the hair is attached tо. Thеrе аrе dіffеrеnt types of adhesive including wax, glue, or heat all of which аrе nоt thаt grеаt for your hair.

When it comes to removing the extensions chemicals аrе needed and these can often leave hair dаmаgеd. Anоthеr орtіоn is to have the hair weaved on. It is known as ‘wafting’ and іѕ a muсh ѕаfеr орtіоn as no chemicals are needed.
The clip-on hair extensions соmе in a vаrіеtу оf different colors and lengths are the best option for non permanent hair ріесеѕ. Thеу аrе very easy to use and as long as you get the right hair соlоur and texture of hair, no one will know your hair is fake. In fact I have ѕаt nеxt to a work colleague for months not realizing that hеr lоng hаіr was in fact clip on hair pieces. It was only whilst getting ready for оur Chrіѕtmаѕ party and she pulled her hair off! I was shocked to say the lеаѕt as her natural hаіr was juѕt shoulder length and I had no idea.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Curly Hair Extensions

5 Things You Didn't Know About Curly Hair Extensions

Things You May Not Know About Curly Hair Extensions

Interestingly enough, people find that they experience more issues with curly extensions versus straight and there are a number of reasons for this. So before you click on the “buy now” button online, make sure that you are dealing with a company you know you can trust that is going to give you the best quality. Which means they are offering you one hundred percent natural curly hair extensions that are not going to give you any problems in the long run.
The first thing you may not have known is that curly hair extensions are not that easy to come by. Curly hair isn’t as common as straight hair and therefore in some instances you will find poor quality companies will try and palm off synthetic hair as natural or they will perm the hair to get the desired curly effect, these are things you need to be careful of.
As if you have naturally curly hair you want your hair extensions to be a part of this and enhance your natural hair at all times, whether you are buying clip ins, weave or loop extensions.
Often you find that curly hair extensions are more processed than straight extensions. Another sign you need to look for and that shouldn’t happen when buying from a reputable supplier. When you buy extensions, you want Remy extensions. These are one hundred percent natural extensions where the hair cuticle all run in the same direction and are all in place, you don’t get more natural than this.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Curly Hair Extensions

Due to the fact that there are companies that will perm and treat curly hair extensions to make them look good, they are often not as long lasting, which you can’t be too surprised about. If you are perming your hair and putting it through a constant beating it is also going to wear. Remember these hairs have been treated with perms, sometimes even colours and then they are given to you to wear for months to come.
With perming, coloring and treating comes dry and tangled hair. When you buy hair extensions of any kind, you want to put them through a few tests to make sure their authenticity. Hopefully you have found yourself a supplier that you can trust and one of the things to watch for is dry ends and tangles, which while not harmful, can be rather frustrating.
Over time the curls can loosen in curly hair extensions. Especially in those that have been permed, which means you may have to perm them again to get the desired results.
The best way to overcome these problems is to ensure you buy curly extensions in the first place. Many people buy curly hair because when their hair dries naturally it has a slight curl, this is natural. Wavy may be a better option for you.

WHAT IS GOOD HAIR?

WHAT IS GOOD HAIR?

What Is Good Hair?

Interlude: Grandmother: *touches granddaughter’s hair*
“Ooooh chile!!! You got that good hair from ya’ daddy’s side of the family!”
Good Hair?…. What the heck does that even mean anyways!? Lol
“Good Hair” is a popular term in the African-American / black community, used to describe a black person’s hair that closely resembles the hair of a typical white person (i.e. soft, manageable, and long: as opposed to “nappy” or “coiled” hair). The closer your hair is to a white person’s, the “better” your hair is.  It is typically used to describe black people with softer, wavy, looser-curled, and less kinky looking hair. This type of language stems from a history of colorism and Societal Assimilation due to centuries of being taught that lighter skin, softer hair and Caucasoid features are somehow more beautiful.
WHAT IS GOOD HAIR? , hair extensions, Extensions, Weave hair, Weaves, clip in hair extensions, hair weave, human hair weave, hair store

Generations later, why do we still use the term “good hair”? But most importantly, why do we still feel that nappy or kinky hair is considered to be “bad hair”?
As far back as slavery, the African American community has always praised lighter skin and looser curls because it allowed us to resemble the standards of European beauty. It is believed that the lighter skinned slaves were treated better and got more privileges. This could be a dishearteningly but large contributing factor to our internalized shaming of darker skin and “nappy” hair.
Over the years the media has also played a huge part in keeping this notion alive. Many entertainers such as Beyoncé, Janet Jackson and Tracy Ross perpetuated the “Good Hair” pervasive cultural messages by elevating loose curls and fair skin as being a form of acceptable blackness. However, there are more entertainers like Viola Davis and Erykah Badu that has proudly represented the “Happy to be Nappy” movement.
“Good Hair” should not be exclusively based on a person’s hair texture, but rather described as strong and healthy hair grown from the scalp. “Good Hair” is soft and manageable no matter if its curly, wavy, straight or kinky. “Good Hair” is well moisturized, with little to no breakage, in great condition, glossy and lustrous.WHAT IS GOOD HAIR? , hair extensions, Extensions, Weave hair, Weaves, clip in hair extensions, hair weave, human hair weave, hair store

As long as a person’s hair is strong and healthy, shouldn’t it all be thought of as “good hair? Hopefully this phrase will eventually go away and stopped being used by the black community like phrases such as “dynamite” and “can you dig it baby?” lol The term “Good Hair” connoting less kinky hair or less nappy is a trivial misconception and we should stop using it to describe a hair texture.

Black Hair In Corporate America

Black Hair In Corporate America

Black Hair In Corporate America

By definition Natural Hair Discrimination: is a form of discrimination based on a person’s hair texture. It is a form of injustice resulting in human beings being treated differently based on the stigma attached to hair texture in society. Recently, the Perception Institute partnered with black-owned hair and body products company, Shea Moisture, to conducted the “Good Hair Study”.

The “Good Hair Study” asked over 4,000 participants to take an online implicit association

test (IAT). The test involved rapidly-changing photos of black women with smooth and natural hair, with alternating words associations with each hair type. According to the study, “a majority of people, regardless of race and gender, held biases towards women of color based on their hair texture.

The study discovered that black women suffered more anxiety with issues correlated to their hair. The study also showed that black woman spent more money on hair care and hair care products than their white peers; and were twice as likely to experience social pressure at work to straighten their natural hair.

Black Hair In Corporate America

There are countless stories about various employers asking black women to wear weaves at work to cover up their natural hair. Employers have even been bold enough to ask woman of color to cut off their dread locks. Why are cornrows, afros, dread locks and kinky hair deemed as unprofessional. As long as your hair is neat, well-kept, and does not interfere with your job performance one should have a choice in the matter. You have to ask yourself, what difference does it make how I wear my hair as long as I do my job and I am good at it?

This bias has made many African American woman opt to straighten their hair or wear a weave to appear more professional at the work place.

If one was to search google for “unprofessional hairstyles for work” vs “professional hairstyles for work”, the results would baffle your mind.  The results illustrate blatant prejudice and unfairness. The search results for “unprofessional hairstyles” displayed a large number of black women with natural curly/kinky hair. Whereas, the “professional hairstyles” results revealed mainly white women, with blonde and straightened hair.
Why do black woman have to walk on egg shells and be extremely conservative about their hair. All to appease corporate American and make white people feel more comfortable. This is the way my hair grows out of my head! If you don’t like it take it up with God. Lol

The 3 Secrets Beyonce’s Hair Stylist Hates For You To Know

Ever wonder how Zendaya achieves thоѕе реrfесt waves, оr whо’ѕ behind some of Beyonce’s most iconic lооkѕ? Lооk no further than hair stylist-extraordinaire Kim Kimble, who’s hands have sculpted eye-catching do’s for еvеrуоnе frоm Nicki Minaj to Lady Gaga. Lucky for us, she’s spilled her top tips for re-creating some of her most-beloved lооkѕ, аnd wе’vе got the details below!

1. Kim Kimble: There are two things I lооk аt: ѕkіn complexion and I look at the color of their eyes. That tells a lot. Golden, lіght brоwn еуеѕ like Beyoncé’s look great with golden blonde hair. Reds look good with grееn еуеѕ. Green also looks good with ashier blоndеѕ. Brоwn еуеѕ naturally look good with richer tones, richer colors and warmer ѕkіn tones. More оlіvе skin looks good with warm tones and neutral tones, like yellow-golden colors аnd rеdѕ. I really gаugе more with the eyes, but the skin complexion can help, too.

2. [For styling,] use sulfate-free ѕhаmрооѕ and conditioners. I like very hydrating masks with nаturаl oils in them аnd hоt oil treatments to keep the hair moisturized. [Aftеr your hair is colored with permanent dye] you nееd a tеmроrаrу color to keep the hair color vibrant in bеtwееn. Thеѕе аrе rinses that you put on the hair for color deposit only [meaning they аrе fоrmulаtеd wіthоut peroxide].

The 3 Secrets Beyonce’s Hair Stylist Hates For You To Know

Goldwell has a color refresher and there’s also Sebastian Laminates Cеllорhаnеѕ rіnѕе. Thеу kеер the hair color looking rich and shiny, especially for reds and warm browns. Yоu knоw what? A haircut is a commitment, but when you’re tired of it and you wаnt tо grow it out, I always say extensions аnd wіgѕ. Yоu саn do that to get you through untіl іt grows out. Thе grоw -out stage can be quite awkward, and extensions can help саmоuflаgе. It’ѕ іnѕtаnt gratification.

3.  I have this product called Scalp Relief. Yоu ѕрrау it into the scalp and it keeps it smelling fresh. It has oils, mіnt and tеа-trее oil in it. But you’ve got to wash your scalp to keep іt сlеаn. And rіnѕе it very well. Take longer to rinse it and let the water get іn thеrе, аnd then let it dry out. It’s better to wash it in the mоrnіng and lеt іt air out throughout the day instead of going to bed and trying tо tіе іt up [wet] at night, which can cause mildew.

There are a couple of thіngѕ thаt уоu have to do as a stylist in this business. First, have a love and passion for the buѕіnеѕѕ. Eduсаtе yourself, learn all you can and study hair and fashion so that you’re аhеаd оf thе сurvе. Second, find a great mentor, someone who can show you the rореѕ so you don’t make certain mistakes, and they can give you a head start.

Well, there you have it, the tea on how how some of Hollywood’s greatest do’s get done.

Getting Curls Like Beyonce Can Be Hard Work

Getting Curls Like Beyonce Can Be Hard Work

Getting Curls Like Beyonce Can Be Hard Work

Many of us have recently gotten into the curly hair extensions craze. Not knowing that curly hair requires a lot of maintenance and upkeep. You seriously must treat the hair as if you have grown your very own natural hair. Curly hair extensions can dry out, get fizzy, tangle and be a downright pain in the (you know what) to tame. The best part is, all you have to do is get the right hair care products and learn a few simple techniques that can save you a major headache and train that big curly hair.
Defining the curls in your hair extensions is the easy part. First, you need to choose if you want that “big hair don’t care” look or if you want that, just stepped out of the ocean look with low volume and ultra-defined curls
If you have kinky curly or deep wave hair, and you want the BIG HAIR Look
  1. Shampoo and condition the hair extensions.
  2. Detangle with a wide tooth comb while the hair is still wet.
  3. Pat dry with a terry cloth towel or an old T-shirt.
  4. Applying very little product (such as light leave in conditioner, light oil, and/or serum).
  5. Air Dry or Dry the hair using a hair dryer with a diffuser attachment.
  6. To get even bigger hair, apply a small amount of oil to fingers and moderately separate the curls.

The maintenance isn’t too bad, right?
For either look, big or low volume, make sure to use a curl defining product, a light oil and/or serum. This will help to keep the hair and frizz under control. Also make sure to wrap your hair up in a silk/satin scarf or bonnet at night. Use the pineapple method (a loose, high ponytail on top of your head, with a silk or satin scarf wrapped around the perimeter of the head. Helps to prevents frizz, knots and flattened curls) or you can braid/ twist your hair.
And if you follow these few simple steps you will have a head full of gorgeous, shiny, luscious, and defined curls!
