Who doesn’t love a good ponytail? Ponytails have come a long way. There are no longer considered to be the boring and bland hair style out of the bunch. There are so many ways you can spurs up this everyday look by simply adding your favorite clip in hair extensions or your silky Mink Brazilian bundles to get fuller and thicker ponytails.

Today I’ll be showing you some of my top ponytail looks of the season, all are which chic, classy and sexy. Not to mention perfect for almost any occasion.

Classic Pony Tail: High Sleek Ponytail with Clip In Hair Extensions

This look will be done by using clip in hair extensions. However you can achieve the same look with virgin hair bundles, but using a different technique.

  1. Start off by creating a small ponytail at the center of your head. This will be a secure base for the hair extensions.
  2. Next, using a 3 clip weft extension, clip it in around the ponytail in a circular pattern. Continue to do this pattern with the clip in hair extension around the ponytail that you’ve created.
  3. Lastly, gather all of the hair into a high ponytail. Make sure that all wefts are covered. Secure the ponytail with a hair tie and smooth away the flyaways with a brush.

Fuller & Thicker Pony Tails

Fuller & Thicker Pony Tails

I love to make this ponytail more polished and sophisticated looking by taking a small section of hair and wrapping it around the base of the hair. This also helps to hide the hair tie or rubber band used.

To create any other ponytail looks using clip in hair extensions you can simply use the same install method just change the styling technique by doing a messy bun or adding a small hump at the front of your head. You can also pull out small pieces of hair to add a little dimension to the style.

Classic Pony Tail: High Sleek Ponytail with Hair Extensions Bundles

To get fuller and thicker ponytails with hair extensions bundles is simple. All you have to do is follow these simple steps.

  1. First pull all of your hair into a ponytail in the desired location. Secure it with a rubber band or hair tie. Make a small and tight bun with the loose hair.
  2. Take the bundle and begin to wrap it around your buned ponytail. Make sure it is tight and secure. Place a few bobby pins randomly through the weft to make sure it is securely installed.
  3. Take a small section of hair to wrap around the ponytail to cover the weft.

Fuller & Thicker Pony Tails

And there you have it folks. Easy as 123. A quick ponytail has gotten me out of hundreds of styling mishaps or just simply not knowing what to do with my hair. Wanna learn 4 different techniques for curling your beauty and luscious virgin hair extensions?

Don’t freak out! I’m sure a ton of you must think I’m crazy. Like, who has the time, space or money to have 4 different curling tools? Not to worry ladies we’re only using 1 curling iron to get almost any curl or wave you want. If you want to learn more….

Just, keep reading for more Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions!
It’s no secret, I love wearing my hair in almost any kind of curly or wavy style. I will wear just about any type if curl, from the Kim Kardashian beach waves all the way down to those bouncy Shirley Temple spiral curls. And what I love most is that I can achieve any look I want using the same curling iron or wand curler by just using different techniques.
Today I’m sharing with you my top 4 favorite curling methods. Which can be used on your natural hair or your hair extensions. For the most part, I only use a 1- inch curling iron to achieve my desired look and style.
This is where it all began for many of us. Mainly because the technique is so easy to master.
First thing first, all you really have to do is mimic wrapping a ribbon on the barrel of the curling iron.  Just make sure the hair is even and flat. As well as minimum space between each wrap of hair around the curling iron barrel.  This will ensure your curls come out neat and perfect.
Before we move on, let me give you these little tips.
  • Hold the hair on the iron for 10-15 seconds at a time. This will allow the curl to set in place.
  • Next, before allowing your curl to fall into place, first hold the hot curl in your hand (no it’s not going to burn you) about for 5-6 seconds to allow it to cool, which will make for better curls.

4 Unique Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions

2. Corkscrew Curl
This is by far my most favorite and adored curling styles in Ways to Curl Your Hair Extensions. I am in love with this curl pattern. It is just so glam, chic and sophisticated.
All you have to do to get this look is take a small section of hair and tightly twist it around the barrel. Almost as if you were making a rope with your hair.  You want to use a twisting and wrapping motion all at the same time.

See # 3 and 4 Below

3. Small or Tightly Wound Curls
Let’s set the record straight for all of you non-believers and naysayers… Yes… yes you can use a one-inch barrel to create small and tight curls. Don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself! The trick is to work in very small portions and sections. By doing this you can recreate the classic curl or the corkscrew curl but they will be tighter and smaller curls. Which will give you a completely different look all together.

4. Loose Wave
This is my second favorite option. I feel like Kim Kardashian or Beyoncé when I wear this curl or wavy. This look is just so very sexy and grown woman. But the best part about it is that it can be your “go to look” when you are running short on time. (If you’re anything like me. You spent way too much time scrolling on Instagram, knowing you should be getting dress and now you’re running late lol)
This technique is perfect for getting those big loose “beach waves”. Just take a thick (but not too thick) section and place it around the barrel. With this method you will need to do some slight rolling of the iron. Make sure to curl the front sections of your hair away from your face. So you get that “I have my very own personal invisible fan blowing on me at all times” look
I hope this helped and gave you some inspiration to try some new curling methods. What are some of your favorite techniques to curl your hair or hair extensions? Let us know in the comments below. We would love to hear from you.

All About Good Hair

All About Good Hair

All About Good Hair

Why is hair so important?, We’ve all heard that a woman’s hair is her crown and glory. But why? Is it really that important?, does hair or “GOOD HAIR” really matter. I took this subject to women and men of all races and backgrounds to get a consensus on IF and WHY, hair is so important to us.
Lets get the men out of the way. What I found was that the men were split down the middle on long or short hair. Some men love long locs flowing down a woman’s back, while other men thought that very short cuts made a woman look spunky and sexy. However only 20% of men found that hair and hair quality was unimportant. 80% thought that hair quality contributed greatly to a woman’s visual attractiveness and appeal. Making her look more healthy, vibrant, and interesting: leading to the idea that she has a strong sense of self, high moral and confidence which are all qualities that both sexes find make a partner more attractive.

Good Hair

Now for the Drama, THE WOMEN!!. Woman had opinions that were so varied that a percentage analysis still left me confused. A lot of the women didn’t feel It was fair to judge a woman based on something as superficial as hair, HOWEVER most of those same woman admitted that they not only judged others by their hair quality/style, but also tend to their own hair or hair extensions with a lite obsession to avoid judgement and be considered more attractive.
Some women felt that Good hair was just an accessory, something to put up, down, and change around based solely on how you feel that day. While other woman had a deep connection to hair, mentioning that it should be planned, and calculated. Many admitted that they have driven their boyfriends and husbands crazy by obsessing over the subject, and some how fitting it into every conversation when it was time to get a new style or hair extension install.
I even interviewed a few women about Good Hair while they were with their male spouses, and I watched each spouse roll his eyes at least once in discontent over the discussion. To this day I’m unsure if the men were just bored or slowly enduring torture.
What i learned was simple, whether you like hair or don’t care…IT IS IMPORTANT!! its important as a first impression, its important on a job interview, its important to your boss, and is especially important to you if your idea of beauty is synonymous with beautiful hair… So whether it be hair extensions, an Afro, all natural, human hair wigs or even faux locs. Take care of it with class, The world is watching.

Bleach or Dye Virgin Hair  :

Step 1
Lightly spray hair with clean water. This helps open up the cuticle to speed up the process.
Step 2
Add 2 scoops of bleach powder and 20V or 30V crème developer together (50:50 ratio) and mix them together completely. You want the mixture to be like pancake batter. Not too thick and not too thin.
*For higher lift and a faster process, you may use 40V developer. However, please watch carefully as it may cause more damage to the hair cuticles.

How to bleach or dye your virgin hair the correct way.

Step 3
Make sure to unrivaled the hair and starch out the weft to ensure even distribution. Lay the hair flat on a large sheet of foil to avoid a mess to clean up later. Using an application brush, apply the mix on to your virgin hair extensions. Start from the ends and work your way up to the roots. Remember whenever you start will be the lightest. Make sure that the mix is well and evenly saturated. Flip hair over and repeat with applying the mixture.
Step 4
Once the hair is completely saturated on both sides, work the mixture in with your hands.
Step 5
Wrap the applied area well with foil and time it for 15-20 minutes.
*Make sure to use the hairdressing foil.
*Be sure to check the hair every 5 minutes to see how much the hair is lifting, as the time of processing may vary depending on the products and hair you use.
Step 6
First Shampoo the hair extensions with a shimmering lights shampoo thoroughly in lukewarm or cool water making sure all the chemical residue is washed out. Then repeat with the neutralizing shampoo.
*Do not use a hydrating shampoo or conditioner during this wash because these products will close the hair cuticles and make it difficult for the hair to absorb the dye color.
Step 7
Apply the hair color dying products to the bleached area. Let the hair dye color process for 30-45 minutes.
Step 8
Apply a deep conditioning treatment for at least 15-30 minutes and rinse well.
*During this step while the conditioner is still on,  I like to put the hair in a shower cap or plastic bag and place in my hooded hair dryer for about 10-15 minutes. This helps to seal in moisture and ensure my hair is super soft and silky.
*Once rinse out thoroughly, if the hair is wavy or curly slightly scrunch the hair to keep the curl pattern. And then, lay the hair on the towel to air dry completely. Do not hang the wet hair to dry because that can stretch out the curl pattern.
If you are a beginner these 8 simple steps should help you to achieve the color you are look for. It is also a great way to get beautiful blonde hair as well if you want to skip the coloring all together.

How to Have Great Hair and Still Hit the Gym and Pool

How to Have Great Hair and Still Hit the Gym and Pool

Here’s the deal, I can’t speak for everybody, but I’m trying to get summer time fine! We’re already in the late part of March and we only have a few more months to go. I wanna be beach ready and to do that it requires going to the gym and working out. Now the problem with that is, I’m sweating out my hair and my hair extensions. If you are like me and having the same problem, keep reading.
If you are anything like me, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. On some days I have a whole conversation in my head about going to the gym or sacrificing my good health for my hair style. I know.. I know.. lol it may sound silly, but this is an on-going problem. I want to stay healthy but I want my hair to look and stay healthy as well. Is that too much to ask for?!

 How to Have Great Hair

I have been pretty active for most of my life and I have recently started swimming as part of my workout regimen. While I love this exercise plan and the results I’m getting, I’m hating what the chlorine is doing to my hair. Who knew chlorine could be so freaking drying? It leaves my hair so dry and brittle, I hate it. I know what you’re thinking, why don’t you use a swimming cap? Believe me, I’ve done that and my hair still finds a way to get wet.
While I normally wash my hair once a week, I am finding that my tresses need a completely different cleansing schedule, and different products, too.
Now here comes the good news. Instead of washing your hair every time you have a sweaty head from the gym or decide to take a dip in the pool just use a co-wash. I am not sure who invented this stuff, but it has been like a God send for me. I love it! It helps to cleanse my hair but somehow keep it moisturized all in the same token.

I normally like to pair my Co-washing products with my regular conditioners and moisturizing products to keep my hair healthy, shiny and luscious. What I love most about this hair cleansing regimen is that I can also use it on my all of my virgin hair extensions. It works wonders on my
Malaysian curly hair extensions and on my Brazilian straight hair extensions as well. The cleansing is so gentle it’s beneficial to all hair types. So, if you are having the same problem, skip the shampooing and do a co-wash instead. Just shampoo once a week or once every couple of weeks.

Secrets to Natural Hair Care When Wearing Extensions

Secrets to Natural Hair Care When Wearing Extensions

How to properly take care of your natural hair underneath your sew-in hair extensions

Are you new to wearing hair extensions? Don’t have a clue as to how to take care of your natural hair underneath it all? I’ve put together a simple guideline Secrets to Natural Hair Care to help you protect your hair and keep it healthy while wearing your favorite Mink Indian Hair, Brazilian Hair or Malaysian Hair extensions.
Secrets to Natural Hair Care
First thing first. A few must haves when wearing hair extensions is a good spray bottle, an applicator bottle with a narrow nozzle (this will help to control the amount of oil you are using), a moisturizing oil and / or leave in conditioner.

Spray Bottle for hair extensions , Secrets to Natural Hair Care

After having your weave installed you want to make sure to moisturize your scalp every 2-3 days. If you have extremely dry hair then you may want to moisturize your hair daily.

Secrets to Natural Hair Care: Moisturizing Your Hair

Step 1
Fill a spray bottle with your favorite liquid moisturizer. I normally use a leave in conditioner mixed with water or a conditioning braid spray. Lift up each track and spray the mixture directly on to the braids.
Step 2
Next, using an applicator bottle apply an oil on to the braids and the scalp. This will help to seal the moisturizer into the hair. Repeat this process for each layer of tracks until you have covered your entire head.  Be sure to get the oil on your hair and scalp and not the weave. Nobody wants greasy hair
Side Tip:
I suggest do this in the morning instead of at night to avoid product and oil from getting on your pillow cases/sheets. As well as to prevent the products from getting on to the hair extensions which may cause matts/tangles and cause the extensions to become weighed down or over saturated with product buildup. However, if you prefer to do this at night style as usual and cover with a silk or satin scarf or bonnet for bed.

Cleansing and Washing Your Hair

Cleansing your hair and scalp is vital for maintaining optimal hair health.
Be sure to Wash Your Real Hair Underneath your sew-in AND make sure to wash the Weave.
Step 1
Start by combing through the hair with a wide tooth comb or paddle brush. Be sure to remove all tangles. If you are wearing a curly weave, I recommend using your fingers to detangle. Always start from the ends and work your way up to the roots.
Step 2
Fill a spray bottle up with diluted shampoo and water. Begin by spraying your scalp in between each track. This will ensure you are getting as close as possible to the scalp for cleansing. Massage/ lightly scrub the scalp to lift any dirt, soil or product build up. Wash the hair extensions very gently to avoid mats and tangles. Rinse the shampoo out of the hair like normal using warm water. Make sure to rinse the scalp thoroughly to remove all of the shampoo from the scalp and hair.
Step 3
Repeat step 2 but instead use your favorite conditioner. Allow the conditioner to sit for a while.  At least 5-10 minutes. I prefer to use a conditioner that is designed for dry hair just to give my tresses a little extra love. Rinse the conditioner out with cool water as per usual.
Step 4
Moisturized your natural hair underneath as describe earlier and allow your hair and the weave to air dry.
Please note that this process should be done weekly! Wearing hair extensions can be very taxing on your hair if you are not properly taking care of your hair. Although, your Mink Brazilian hair extensions may look gorgeous while you are wearing them, you should also want your natural hair to look just as gorgeous and healthy when you take out your sew-in.

How to Properly Take Care of Your Closures, Frontals, & 360 Bands

How to Properly Take Care of Your Closures, Frontals, & 360 Bands

How to Properly Take Care of Your Closures, Frontals, & 360 Bands

Many of us are very new to wearing alternative hair pieces such as silk base closures, lace front closures, lace frontals and 360 frontals. When it comes to how to properly care for these pieces we are totally lost and need a little guidance on how to prolong the lifespan of these delicate natural hair savers.
If there is one thing that you should take away from this blog, let it be this, Lace frontals, lace closures and silk closures are extremely delicate and require special TLC to ensure they will keep looking their very best after each wear.

To make sure your hair piece is getting its proper care and maintenance it is vital to understand the differences between closures, frontals and 360 frontal bands, mainly because the care requirements will be different for each.

Here are a few basic rules to keep in mind when taking care of your lace frontals, lace closure, silk base closures or 360 bands.

How to Properly Take Care of Your Closures

How to properly take care of your Closures. Frontals, and 360 Bands
During your install, make sure you tie your hair down every night with a silk/satin scarf to keep it from unnecessarily tangling while you sleep. You can also put your hair in a silk/satin bonnet or sleep on a silk/satin pillow case.
No intense scratching, scrubbing, or rubbing. Scratch your hair piece as little as possible. The more you scratch, the more hairs you can possibly lose, and the more it may shed.
Be sure to gently comb or brush your closures and frontals. Hard combing and brushing causes unnecessary shedding.

When washing, never scrub your hair pieces. If tangling does occur, simply continue to rinse the hair while rubbing your fingers through it using a downward motion.
Avoid using bad/low quality products. Always use sulfate-free hair care products. They should be infused with safe and effective ingredients to keep your hair looking flawless, and well hydrated.
Seal your knots with a knot sealant or protectant. This will help your closures and frontals avoid unnecessary balding and shedding.

These few basic tips will help even the most inexperienced person know how to properly take care of a frontal or closure. It is very simple, some of us just need a little direction in the matter.

Curly Extensions- 4 Secrets to Keep Curls

Curly Extensions- 4 Secrets to Keep Curls

Curly Hair Extensions

Big hair, Don’t care! When I say I love big hair, I LOVE BIG CURLY BEAUTIFUL Hair! The bigger the better. I am absolutely in love with big luscious curly hair. It just fits me. And the best part about it is when you invest in virgin hair, you get the best of both worlds. With most virgin human hair curly extensions you can wear the hair straight or curly. I prefer to wear it curly, at least most of the time.
Now, what they don’t tell you about rocking curly hair extensions, is that, they require a lot more maintenance and attention than their straight or body wave counterparts. When it comes to curly hair extensions there are a few main things you have to incorporate into your hair care routine to make sure your hair is looking its best.
Curly Extensions- 4 Secrets to Keep Curls , Curly Extensions,4 Secrets to Keep Curls, hair extensions, nadula, arjuni, bad weave

  • Wash and condition regularly
Wash and conditions your curly hair extensions on a regular basis. I would suggest using a quality brand named shampoo and conditioner.
  • Spray Bottles
A good Spray bottle will become your best friend. You may not want to wash your hair every day, but you must know that curly hair extensions thrive when they are properly moisturized. I do this by adding a small amount of coconut oil, and leave in conditioner to a spray bottle filled with water. I mist my hair in the mornings and watch my curls bounce right back like new.

Curly Extensions – 4 Secrets to Keep Curls

  • Detangle
It is best to detangle your curly hair extensions when they are wet. When brushing or combing the hair while it’s dry can cause a ton of breakage and shedding. The best tools to use are a wide tooth comb, a vent brush, a dimming brush, or your god given fingers.
  • Setting foams/ lotions
Nothing brings back curly hair extensions like a good setting foam. You can find them at almost any local Walmart, pharmacy or beauty supply store. I love using a setting foam after I’ve washed, conditioned, detangled and moisturized. The setting foam helps to lock in the moisture and set the curls into place.
The most important thing to remember when wearing curly hair extensions is to treat and care for them just how you would treat and care for your very own natural hair. If you treat them right, they will treat you right… If you treat them wrong……, Well you know the rest.

Silk and/or Lace Closure -Stylist Arguments

Silk and/or Lace Closure -Stylist Arguments

Silk and/or Lace Closure -Stylist Arguments

Wanna see a heated debate between two passionate hair stylists?, simply pose the question, “Silk and/or Lace Closure?” It’s almost like stepping inside of a meeting with a discussion on foreign policy with the democrats and republicans. Debates have gone on for hours and hours for the argument on which is better, which has the more flawless install, and which gives the illusion of a more natural hairline or scalp appearance.

Personally, I prefer a lace closure over silk base any day. Even though silk base closures look more natural and “scalp-like”. If you want a more natural appearance with a lace closure all you have to do is simply bleach the knots. You also have the option of using a concealer, foundation or powder to cover the knots if you feel you may damage the hair piece. In my experience lace closures require less skill and know-how than silk closures and you get close to the same results. However, many people still live for and swear by silk closures.

I love the look of silk base closures but I find that they do not lay as flat as lace closures during an install. You also must keep in mind when purchasing any silk closure or lace closure that they all are not created equal and some brands are better than others. You must be careful, and choose a company that has high quality products and hair extensions.

Silk and/or Lace Closure :
No matter if you are installing a silk base closure or lace front closure it is important to follow a few simple guidelines to achieve that flawless and natural hairline or scalp appearance.

Tips On A Flawless Install:
Bleach or conceal the knots if necessary.
Plucking the hair and hairline.
Pluck along the hairline and part to give the install a much more natural look.

Sturdy braid pattern foundation
The braid pattern for the install of the closure should be small and sturdy. The smaller the braids, the flatter the closure will lay.

Silk and/or Lace Closure

Use TENSION when installing.
Tension is the key to making the closure lay flat as possible. Therefore, sturdy braids are extremely imperative when installing silk or lace closures.

Mold/set the closure.
Use a setting foam to lay the hairs on the closure in the proper direction then place under a hooded dryer.

Apply a foundation, powder, or concealer along the part to mimic the scalp and cover the line of demarcation.

USE EDGE CONTROL! It always finishes an install and places the baby hairs perfectly.

With any install using a closure, the hair piece will eventually shift backwards due to new growth. Just like any sew-in or hair style they are not meant to be worn for months and months at a time. However, with the proper install and a trained hair stylists they can be fixed or readjusted.
As far as the debate for which is better, silk base closures or lace closures, it is completely about preference. Whichever one feels better and works better for the look you are seeking, then that’ the one you should use. And no one ever said you have to choose a side and stay there. Use the one the works best for you now and switch it up at a later time.

CURLY Hair Extensions – Good, Bad & Ugly

CURLY Hair Extensions - Good, Bad & Ugly

CURLY Hair Extensions – Good, Bad & Ugly

Ok, so maybe I’m not super new to wearing extensions, but I am pretty new to wearing super curly extensions. I went natural a few years ago and haven’t worn hair extensions in quite a while. And Yes, I was one of those girls that thought curly hair extensions were just as easy as wearing straight or wavy hair extensions. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!  Ow, you should get some deep curly hair extensions” they said. “They’ll blend great with your curly hair” they said. But nobody ever stopped and warned me about the maintenance they require. Why didn’t yall warn me!!!
Let me be the first to say, I love curly hair extensions (now that I know how to take care of them), but I was not expecting the hair care routine that comes along with them.
I’ll start at the beginning. I went to my hair stylist and asked her about some alternative styles and what I could do to keep the curly hair look but protect my hair at the same time. She suggested getting a sew-in with some deep curl or kinky curly hair extensions. She told me since my natural hair was already curly I would not have to worry about heat damage and this would be a great way to reduce any stress or manipulation on my natural tresses. Of course I was all in. For the first few days I was in UTTER LOVE. Everything was completely perfect and just what I had in mind. Going into day 4 or 5, I was starting to experience some mats and tangles; and my beautiful curls weren’t looking so beautiful.

CURLY Hair Extensions

I called my hair stylist frantic to ask “What do I do?” Her reply was “chyle, the same thing you do to your natural hair girl”. “You gotta be kidding me” I said to myself. I had an ideology that I was on vacation from any hair care routines or maintenance. WRONG! Again.
I had to get into the habit of treating this virgin curly hair just like I would treat my very own. So that meant, washing and conditioning, and making sure it stayed moisturized. I also had to make sure I slept with a satin scarf or bonnet on at night. And I always tied it up using the pineapple method so I can ensure my curls stayed popping for the next day.
Curly hair extensions are not hard to take care of, you just have to give them a little extra care versus straight or body wave hair extensions. All you have to do is, do some extra research and gain the knowledge on how to properly take care of and maintenance curly hair extensions and you’ll be just fine. Look at the bright side, at least you had me to warn you about what they entail and require from the wearer.
